Thursdays are for What the Hell is This?

After the death of Bigfoot his wife observed a traditional period of mourning.

This week we have a mash-up of "wearable art" and "string art." I call it "wearable string."

And so cheerful!

A little late posting. Sorry!

Everything old is new again. It's Yarngina 2.0.

Many thanks to Jenna F. for sending me this item!

I like to call this week's collection "Puffy in All the Wrong Places."

I've always wanted a dress that makes me look like I'm covered in lichen and sprouting moss all over my thighs.

Several questions ran through my mind when I saw this new pattern.

1) When did Demetri Martin start modeling knitwear?
2) Do these come in adult sizes?
3) What time does their adult kickball league start?

More Thursday on Friday

Yesterday's post was just the furry tip of a fur covered iceberg. You really must do yourself a favor and view the entire collection. Full fur suits for men and women, sparkle high heel furry boots, fur bell-bottom jumpsuits...you must see it for yourself.

Oh, Karl*. It's like you saw last week's post and said, "I see your fur shorts and I raise you."

As soon as the D@lce & Gabanna fall show hit the internet I started to get emails. It's just so Thursday.

From the waist up this one is so cute. From the waist down it's so...perplexing.

You've got knitted rompers.

How do you say romper in Norwegian?

Then comes the catsuit.

Oh, but wait. It's not really knit. It's faux.

But what makes this all seem completely reasonable in comparison?

FUR SHORTS. Please pass the hot pants.

Thursdays are for What the Hell is This?

This week I found a very good lesson in fashion styling. Here is a design from the upcoming V*gue Knitting.

This tunic is styled as a breezy, elegant summer top.

Here it is (at 5:45) in the TNNA fashion show styled like an ice dancer's costume.

Plus does anyone else see the face of an old knight in the torso? It's reminds me of this Don Quixote illusion painting.

It's not just me, right?

PS The tunic just before this one is by Project Runway contestant Gordana Gelhausen.

These new cocoon-type yarns are far more versatile than I thought. You can use them to make lumpy scarves.

Or you can use them to make...uh...lumpy scarves.

I'm so glad I got to see all four of these "options." It really illuminates the possibilities of this "yarn."

If you can't figure out how to make this yourself for less than $20 in under 20 minutes maybe you deserve to be robbed. But it makes me wonder how you managed to scrape together the $221.25 in the first place.

Brace yourself. I have found the male counterpart to this post on crochet. Why should the ladies hog all the tasteless crocheted items?

A crocheted jock strap. Just what the world needs!

What's he got in there? A baseball mitt?

Don't forget to check out the view from the back too.

Classy.

And--yippy skippy!--you can get the pattern to make your own.

Thursdays are for What the Hell is This?

Friends, I tell you, my week has been so mixed up. I got to work today--the first time all week--and realized that it was Thursday! So I apologize for the late post. In an effort to get this done quickly I'll present a single fug that encompasses the full spirit of WTHIT.

Enormous poncho with impossible armhole placement.
Great, pendulous pom poms.
Leg warmers with stilettos.
Fringe.
Ugly purse.
Balls on head.

There you go.

What a lovely poncho.

[Photo has been pulled because...ah, you don't even want to know]

Effortlessly stylish for days when you don't need to drive, eat, or wipe your own ass.

I assume you've heard the phrase, "You don't know crap from Christmas."

I have in my possession a full kit to knit this vest. I am not kidding. It has the pattern, the yarn, the bobbins, the whole magillah. And it can be yours. That's right. It's the season of sharing and I am sharing this with a lucky reader. Just leave a comment swearing to me that you will actually knit this thing (and send in a picture when you're done) and you could be the lucky winner!

Merry Christmas.

There are so many things that are really hard in life, you know? Hard, difficult things like putting on a scarf. Thank goodness for the Necky.

But if you're brave enough to delve into the troubling and difficult world of scarves then the Knifty Knitter is there to help.

Did you hear that lefties? It so easy even you can do it.

Thursdays are for What the Hell is This?

The good folks at Red Heart decided that plain snuggies were not good enough. So they've come up with an e-book of patterned snuggies because a plain snuggie doesn't look blanket-y enough, I guess. Included are some snuggies for the men in your life.

Here is quite possibly the most creepy/least sexy man I've ever seen.

I'm going to dismember you as soon as I finish this cocoa.

Here he looks less creepy but still entirely unsexy. I like how he's showing you his wedding ring as if that proves something.

And now we've swung back around to creepy.

That left hand is making a move toward her neck. Like he's been driven homicidally insane but his knitted acrylic man-cocoon.
